SSC is a competition for the best student research project. The event is organized each April by the Dean of the Faculty of Science within the Science days.

The Institute of Geography usually opens two parallel sections: (i) Human and Regional Geography, (ii) Physical Geography and GIS. Students of both the Bachelor level and the Master level of Geography course and interdisciplinary Geography course can participate. First time in the academic year 2012/2013, also selected students of secondary schools could join the contest.

SSC begins by official opening by the Dean of the Faculty of Science which is followed up by presentations of the research projects by the students at the Institute of Geography. The official closing is in the afternoon when the prices are awarded to the best three projects in each section.
